41. Get/ have cold feet: mất hết can đảm
42. On second thought: suy nghĩ kĩ
Ví dụ: On second thought, it was a terrible idea.
43. In vain: vô ích
Ví dụ: It is in vain when finding this truth.
44. Off one’s head: điên, loạn trí
Ví dụ: The old man has been off his head.
45. Chip in: quyên góp
46. Take things to pieces: tháo ra từng mảnh
Ví dụ: They need to take the bookshelf to pieces before moving it out of the room.
47. Come to light: được biết đến

55. Get butterflies in one’s stomach: cảm thấy bồn chồn

58. Jump the traffic lights: vượt đèn đỏ

59. Fly off the handle: phát cáu
Ví dụ: She will fly off the handle for no reason.
60. The apple of one’s eye: người mà bạn thích hay tự hào
Ví dụ: Pi is the apple of my eye.
61. Put one’s foot in it: gây nhầm lẫn, bối rối
62. Pull one’s weight: nỗ lực, làm tròn trách nhiệm

63. Make ends meet: xoay sở kiếm sống
Ví dụ: My brother has 2 projects to make ends meet.
64. Cut and dried: dễ hiểu, cuối cùng, rõ ràng

Ví dụ: I have to explain to her because she gets the hold of wrong end of the stick.

Ví dụ: It was a close call for the residents when a tornado swept through.

Ví dụ: Fred was on probation for a year.
72. At heart: Thực chất, cơ bản
Ví dụ: Ned seems quite unfriendly but at heart he’s a good person.
73. To know by sight: nhận ra
Ví dụ: She would know by sight if she saw him again.
74. From time to time: thỉnh thoảng
Ví dụ: I go this restaurant from time to time.
75. A lost cause: làm việc cẩn thận
76. To make do: xoay sở, đương đầu
Ví dụ: During this difficult economic times, many people have to make do with less.
77. Stay/ keep on one’s toe: cảnh giác, thận trọng
Ví dụ: We have to stay on our toe when everyone’s out.
78. See eye to eye: đồng tình
Ví dụ: I’m glad that they see eye to eye on the matter of the conference location.
79. Have in mind: cân nhắc
Ví dụ: I don’t want to see a movie now. I have in mind to go the park.
80. To be bound to: chắc chắn
Ví dụ: You have bound to be late if you don’t hurry.
